The neighbors’ dog will not stop barking.
He is barking the same high, rhythmic bark
that he barks every time they leave the house.
They must switch him on on their way out.

The neighbors’ dog will not stop barking.
I close all the windows in the house
and put on a Beethoven symphony full blast
but I can still hear him muffled under the music,
barking, barking, barking,
and now I can see him sitting in the orchestra,
his head raised confidently as if Beethoven
had included a part for barking dog.

When the record finally ends he is still barking,
sitting there in the oboe section barking,
his eyes fixed on the conductor who is
entreating him with his baton
while the other musicians listen in respectful
silence to the famous barking dog solo,
that endless coda that first established
Beethoven as an innovative genius.

So two midterms and one paper later, I still have a pulse.

All things considered, I'm in pretty good shape. =)

And I have a date with a girl today. =)

And then I have rugby practice and a dinner out with Erica for her birthday, and then a rugby game tomorrow, and then clearly a Sox game viewing, and then a chem problem set, then 2 chem chapters to read, then a physics problem set, then 3 phyics chapters to read, then Sunday I have an HMUN meeting, and then I have to read the UNTARC papers, the SCAC manual and do lots of other random stuff. Clearly, not having time to get get wasted is becoming a bigger and bigger problem.

Erica's Awesome Birthday Cake -- photoshopped by yours truly, and for the record it look a helluva lot better on the computer screen than it did sugar-printed onto the cake's icing. So there.
