Today, ICly, it is July 3rd. This day will stretch from the 15th to the 17th as per our 3:1 time ratio. The weather is cloudy and cool.
The IC post is there for new characters to introduce themselves, for characters to react to announcements, or morning shenanigans with roommates. You can find that post
here.
Just as a reminder, please do not forget to reply to Friday's
hangman event! There is no set tagging order unless you choose to set one up within your own groups.
As promised, the details for Monday's event are under the cut.
Monday's event will be a modified variant of the
Milgram experiment. You don't have to be familiar with the background of the experiment to participate, but it's always fun to read about! Essentially, the event will operate as follows:
The inmates who participate will be split up into groups of two: One "teacher" and one "student". (If an odd number of inmates participate, an NPC will act as the "teacher" for one student.) The teacher is given a stack of ten cue cards containing simple questions and answers, which the student, who is sitting behind a glass wall, must answer. The teacher reads the question, and the student must answer. If the student answers correctly, they earn 10,000 CP. The teacher earns nothing.
However, if the student answers incorrectly (or refuses to answer), the teacher is to press a button that administers an electric shock to the student through their collar. The shock starts out mild but painful, but with each shock it will double in strength. After three or four wrong answers, depending on the character, they will die. Since this is a performance death, any student who dies will receive
100,000 CP; this is the first step toward a
Branch of Sin!
For each shock administered, the "teacher" is awarded 50,000 CP. The teacher need not wait for an incorrect answer to administer the shock; at any time, if they shock the student, it will award them 50,000 CP. This is something they'll need to figure out on their own, though.
If the teacher attempts to assist the student, they will lose CP. (If the game ends with the teacher in the red, they will lose that amount from the current balance on their cast card.) On the first attempt, they will receive a gentle warning shock through their own collar and lose 50,000 CP; the second time, they will receive a stronger warning shock and lose 100,000 CP; the third time, however, they will be shocked into unconsciousness, lose 200,000 CP, and be taken away for a
punishment of the player's choice and the game will end. The following count as "attempting to assist the student":
- Refusing to administer a shock on a wrong answer;
- Telling the student the correct answer without waiting for the student to answer on their own;
- Showing the front of a cue card to the student;
- Refusing to ask a question.
As for the questions themselves, their difficulty is mixed. There are some very basic trivia questions as well as some questions that only an expert would be able to answer, and they are of a variety of subjects. Many trick questions are also sprinkled in.
This event is not mandatory; instead, it's on a sign-up basis. If a character ICly would not sign up, you may still sign them up OOCly and they will be forced to participate.
To sign a character up for this event, please fill out the following form and reply to this post.
