Well last week was fun!
Got trained in the black arts of ITIL, well at least some of them, and lso learnt that the NHS in London is fighting to retain 31 / 32 PCTs in the capital to keep them coterminus with the Boroughs. I hope they succeed. This re-org is going to be hell though - We need to fight for the chance to keep IT services within the PCT. I think we have a strong case, we're reasonably well resourced, and are one of the larger PCTs in the country (though we won't be after the re-org) and I really do believe that we (ICT) can deliver best value for our PCT rather than merging into some form of shared service. And this isn't just about keeping my job - I will be fin - in fact I'd expect to move up the food chain if we did re-org so I'm actually arguing *against* my best interests.
Also went to Nottingham, which was good. I'd forgotton how nice Nottingham was - wandered round, had meetings, found somewhere nice to have a drink and something to eat. Oh and found a student to tie up and use.
