Olympics Adventure: The Phone
I have a UK phone number! It's 07528-808-992 (I think). I can't remember exactly how the Brits divvy up their digits/hyphens. And if anyone calls from the US, they need a country code. Just throwing that out there in case of emergency. Unless you're one of my London/UK friends, in which case I'm throwing it out there so you people can invite me to stuff.
On my walking adventure to the magical land of Carphone Warehouse, I discovered that American phones (or at least my phone) has the SIM card built in, which means it can't be removed/replaced with a British card, which means I had to just buy a whole new phone. I got the cheapest POS they had, which is fun because it seems to be a leftover from the 90's, back in the good ol' days when phone were simple. My friend said she had a spare phone I could borrow so I just had to buy the SIM card, but I figure I come back to the UK every couple years anyway, so it's just good to have one. And if I don't come back, this thing was dirt cheap anyway.
I'm not sure what this area is called (Bishop's Gate maybe?), but I quite like it. It's very vibrant and has a great mix of pretty much everything. On my way back I stopped by a plaza where they had a big awning set up over 3 large-screen TV's, and passerbys were just stopping in on their lunch breaks or whatever to watch the games. It was a nice atmosphere.
Yeah, I'm definitely just stalling my P90X now... and my friend's flatmate just came home, so she'll get to hear me working out... lovely...
