Talk about a case of 9 lives and then some.

So we've got a new addition to the family.

Everyone meet Huxley, named after the tv series Huxley Pig which we watched when we were little, because he eats like food is going out of fashion.

He technically belongs to my brother as I've got Darcie and didn't want the responsibility of another cat when, truth be told, I'll be leaving her here with my parents when I eventually move out. Mostly because she spent most of the first two years of her life being moved between four different places before she came to me as her fifth and final home.

Anyway, Huxley (formerly known as Marvin) was found about a month ago by my Mum and brother by the side of the road, after it seems he'd had his tail run over by a car and then been left. Despite being seriously injured he was very loving and affectionate towards them and they managed to catch him and take him to the vets. We put up posters saying that this cat had been found (no collar or microchip) but no-one came forward and after having the snip, losing all but a stump of his tail and getting micro-chipped he was sent off to the local RSPCA to recover.

Four weeks later we caved in and brought him home to us.

Today was his first day in the house, we've got him a dog crate to sleep in at night up in the kitchen, as we tend to shut our cats on the ground floor of our townhouse so that they have a lounge and conservatory to sleep in. He's very affectionate, a little bit stupid and very sweet tempered. He's HUGE, a big tom cat in the making as we think he's only about two years old now and he might have a little more growth left in him. His meow is this pathetic kitten mew and he's got these gorgeous deep amber eyes.

Darcie isn't such a fan. I think she told him to F Off in cat terms when she spied him last night but right now she's asleep on the bed beside me. I'm fairly confident that she'll get over the trauma of no longer being the only ginger ninja in the household.

So yeah, that's my family for you.
