Light the lamp! Not the Rat! Light the Lamp!

So my cat tried to kill me earlier this week.  Seriously! I kid you not!

Yeah. I know. Sounds like the start to a really tacky and poorly written B movie but it really isn't! She chewed through the electrical cable on my hairdryer which I didn't realise until it was too late. The good news is that my hand has healed though my arm still aches even now, the bad news is that I had to fork out for a new hairdryer which I wasn't budgeting for so thank you Darcie.

The christmas decs went up last weekend which was fun (the cat helped too - see above -), I've yet to decorate my room but that will be a job for later as I spent yesterday trawling around the town with my Gran to help her out with her shopping. It wasn't so bad actually, she's pretty content to do her own thing and ushers me off to run errands whilst she browses which suits me just fine and dandy.

I got allocated my dissertation supervisor as well this week. Good news is that he is a guy I have a lot of respect for and worked with a little bit last year in my training year. He's written books on educating teachers and government policies so I have no doubts that he'll know his stuff, but at the same time I am absolutely terrified about the fact that this means I am one HUGE step closer to my dissertation deadline. Okay, sure I know it's not due until September 2011 but I still have to research, plan it, write it, edit it and do further reading. My brain is crammed full of papers and the such like on educational policies it is UNREAL.
Also I got my new timetable for next term too for my studies; Monday will be Educational Policies in which I hope to look at the policy that schools have on Sex Education, or more specifically Gay, Bi and Transexual education. And on a Tuesday I will be studying about Culture and Pedagogy; this model looks at the contemporary forms of knowledge, culture and truth that underpin educational discourse through a historical examination of culture and pedagogy. Which to some of you might not make vast amounts of sense but it basically means 'Why do we teach the way we teach? Who thought it was a good idea and why? Were they right or were they wrong?'

Christmas shopping is progressing. I've got gifts for Matt, his Nan, his Mum, both of my Grandmothers, my Mum, my Dad and some stocking fillers. All I have left is some more stocking filler bits and pieces as well as a gift for my brother. I bought him a tshirt but that is it so far. I am drawing a blank when it comes to buying him something this year which is frustrating as hell! I think it might require me wandering around Maidstone tomorrow until I find something to give him. Plus I need to buy a card and a gift to give to my mentor at the school who is retiring at the end of the week.

I've sent all my christmas cards to those who requested them! I got my first one through the post today as well so thank you littlemissgg and I hope that you all get your cards soon! So on that note I am going to head off and shove some things in the washing, do some more uni reading and tidy/decorate my room! Woo.

blah blah blah, christmas card post!, christmas, tl;dr
