Update 2nd Jan 2021

Well, that was an unremarkable Christmas and an even more boring New Year. I usually spend Christmas day with my sister and her family, but of course that was called off this year, so spent the day alone. It just felt like any other day of the past few months. And I almost forgot it was New Year's eve - the fireworks going off was a big clue.

Two nights before Christmas, I heard a loud thud from next door. My neighbour is elderly and lives alone, though she has regular visits from family during the day. Worried for her safety, I called the emergency services and as we were trying to figure out how to get in her daughter-in-law pulled up in her car, coming to check on her. When they opened the door, I just saw poor Lillian's feet sticking out of the bedroom door. It wasn't good news. It shook me up a little, I don't mind admitting. I'm glad that I didn't ignore the loud thud, even if we were too late to do anything to help her.
