At last!!!!!

I had a really good interview on Tuesday with a great company here in Vienna, VA, and this morning, they called and made me an offer.

Ironically, they called as I was on my way into another interview, this one with Dell Computers, which I had this morning. Of course, knowing the offer was on the table, I was about as relaxed and at ease in this morning's interview as I have ever been. This position would be of interest, too.

Anyway, if I go to work with the company that made the offer, I will be working on government contracts from the get-go for the Department of the Navy, and this will require them to get me a secret security clearance...(YESSS!!!!!) This, with government contract experience means that in 2 years I will be even more marketable, and if I can get the MBA finished, can at that point go anywhere and write my own check, so-to-speak.

As it is, if I stay there, it will give me negotiating leverage for a higher salary or more benefits...

They pretty much met my salary expectations. I am going in at more than my now almost previous job is paying me, and that was what I really needed. It would have been nice if they had come in higher, but in the end, I decided haggling was not worth it, and am going to accept the offer, because it is a place I really want to work.

That being said, I am still going to the interviews I had set up for next week, because I think I owe it to myself to see what I am passing up, and to make sure 100% that this is what I want to do. Besides, if Dell is interested, that one would be difficult to turn down.

So, no more venting about how forlorn and worthless I feel. And-- I was informed of my layoff on January 8, I will start a new job at the end of next week (February 9), which will mean a total of 4 1/2 weeks of concerted searching. Not bad...

I do wish the salary offered had been a bit more, but I can handle it. I just have to go in, bowl them over and PROVE I am worth more to them in six months or so, and maybe, just maybe I can negotiate a raise then to what I originally wanted. At least after a year, I hope I can negotiate a decent increase, and will work towards excelling in my job performance to ensure that that happens.

This is proof that the job was out there, and that there is also strength and power in prayer.

I feel pretty good today, and am overall very happy to finally be able to report this good news!!
