So the last time I actually updated this was the day band camp ended.
Since then a lot of stuff has gone on. I’ve realized how much I love it here. I love the atmosphere, my classes, my new friends, guard, my professors, my independence. I’m having an absolute blast here.
My classes are going well despite the fact that 3 of my 6 classes are honors courses. Oh well, the honors professors are really cool. There’s a lot of work, but I’m used to that from high school.
I started volunteering at the Mariner’s Museum right down the road from campus. The women that work in the education office are great. It should be a lot of fun to volunteer there for my leadership class. Also, if I volunteer 16 hours, I get 5% added on to my final grade in history, so yay for that!!
Tonight I have dinner with my team from PLP week in June. I’m looking forward to it, it should be a lot of fun.
Most of you know by now that Kyle and I broke up almost 2 weeks ago. The weeks preceding our breakup and the week afterwards were a little rough, but things are better now. I feel more like myself now. It was hard having him at the same school as me and then having to deal with sides of each other we never had to deal with. The whole friends thing is working out okay. Some days were spent really mad at each other, but that’s part of the whole learning process. I’m almost positive he doesn’t like me hanging out and flirting with the guys I do, but you know what, I’ll do whatever I damn well please and have fun while I’m doing it! I think he likes one of my suitemates, yeah that should be interesting if anything actually happens there. I was telling a couple of my friends about that last night at dinner and I wasn’t too happy about it being my suitemate, I mean of all the girls on campus, you pick my suitemate? I mean really, come on… But the guys looked at me and said what’s it matter, look at all the guys you hang out with. I laughed and said it was true.
Then they pointed out the marching band entourage I have… Lol, I do have a ton of guy friends in band. I’m enjoying being single, for the moment at least! I get to flirt with everybody and there’s no one to say they disapprove.
OP Matt reminds me of Shane. Their senses of humor are similar. I really like hanging out with Matt, he is one of the nicest, coolest, funniest guys I know.
Ken reminds me of Craig. Ken stayed with me this weekend during my food poisoning attack and the start of my really bad cold. Since Taylor wasn’t here this weekend, he said that if I got sick in the middle of the night, I would need someone to hold my hair up… Ken’s a nice guy.
So let me explain the whole food poisoning thing… Went to a marching band picnic/gathering Friday night. Andy (an adorable junior sax) bragged how he had bratwurst and Ken and I weren’t allowed to have any. Later I mentioned I hadn’t ever had bratwurst, so Andy let me have one of the ones he cooked. Well, Ken and Andy both got cooked bratwurst and I got one that was pretty much raw. Yay food poisoning. Andy still feels bad about it, but it wasn’t really his fault, it’s not like he did it intentionally, ya know?
Last Thursday, Kirsten from FP’s marching band a few years ago randomly invited me to hang out with her. It was really cool of her to do, even though it was really unexpected!
Mom and Shane came down for the game on Saturday. The game was great. It was fun seeing them. I hadn’t seen Shane in forever! The performance went well on Saturday. The masks we wear, creep people out, which is amusing. I caught all of my tosses, except some were caught completely wrong. I love college marching band! Except of course, wearing long-sleeved tunics and black pant unitards… And the shoes we have are beyond fugly. I’m getting an awesome glove tan though, lol.
Well guys, I haven’t even been to class yet, but I should go study for a philosophy quiz that I have later, I’ll try to write more when I’m not so busy!!
