Yesterday:
Jamee and I walked to the cafeteria and I see Jessica Wilson's sister and some friends coming in the door while her other friends are pushing them out yelling that it's snowing. Jamee kept insisting that she saw snow but we told her she was hallucinating, it was probably falling but not where she said it was. Then, I guess you'd say, the bottom fell out. EVERYONE in the cafeteria gasped and started yelling simultaneously. Was it a fight? A fire? Ellis Bevel grabbed Alicia Clark's arm and pointed to the window. The whole scene was like something from a movie. 1/4 of the room ran past the teachers thinking they wouldn't get caught and outside to catch snowflakes on their tongues. Jamee planned to skip Mrs. Wildman's class and make face-down snow angels. Mr. Bland fussed that they were idiots and one poor minded soul was outside trying to make snow angels in the grass.
I laughed at Gabrielle b/c her table was dancing and singing Christmas carols and she had yelled at Ben that morning for getting Jingle Bells stuck in her head. She told him that it wasn't Christmas and changed the words so they'd put her hurting him.
Today:
Woke up to mom asking dad if logs worked without power.
Went back to sleep.
Got dressed by said logs by lantern light.
Got power back and changed clothes.
First block:
Watched most of The Notebook. Vowed to rent it. Kelley said that right after I left they got to the part where they kiss in the rain and Kayla (who had only read the book) started balling. Her boyfriend was totally confused when he came looking for her.
Second block:
Learned that everyone in Winnabow takes a shower at the same time and that's exactly when the power went out. Thanks to Patsy our discussion of temperature and volume and stuff turned into a discussion of urban legends. (So you know, you can't get AIDS at the gas pump).
Third Block:
"Planned" essay in groups.
Got to be the first to present Federalist paper project. Jamee looked at the rubric and said we did well.
Fourth block:
Talked to Mrs. Kathy. Catherine: I wish I was as popular as my mom. Michelle: she's really nice. Catherine: yeah, she's cool. I think I'll keep her.
Talked to women's club president. Called my mom. Was disappointed that after all that I hadn't missed anything. Adrienne and I worked on the music library. She was going to kill Mr. Wood, or pass out and then kill Mr. Wood. And after all our work, HE ALREADY HAD A NOTEBOOK WITH THE SONGS IN IT!!!!
Then:
Went to Jamee's, borrowed shirt, came home, remembered that my dad told me not to forget to borrow a tape recorder from my neighbor, went to pick up my cousins (tonight was Elmer's school's Valentine's Dance), went to Joe's and saw Samantha and Matt, went to Wal-Mart, then picked up Elmer.
It was Samantha's first trip to Joe's and Matt told her there were a lot of fat people in there all the time. His mom was taking his brother and a friend to see Curious George and they were going too.
Was disappointed by the "redneck mall". You usually see everyone from school there on Friday night. My mom felt like the Walmart greeter b/c she kept seeing people from work.
I pose the question: Does seeing someone you know at Wal-Mart count if they work there?
If so I saw two people.
I bought gum and the book, GRITS Friends are Forevah. I told Matt James the other day that I'd try to find a good book to read. I searched desperately for a good Nicholas Sparks book for a good cryfest. No luck. Oh, well.
So yeah...
