Abilities: Deidara has a unique ability. He has mouth on each of his hands that he uses to mix clay with his chakra, effectively creating miniature bombs that he denotes with a single word: Katsu. This is also known as
Kibaku Nendo, coded as C1.
He also has multiple levels of explosives:
C1,
C2,
C3,
C4, and finally CO.
Deidara also has another, larger mouth on his body, located on his chest. It's sealed shut with the help of Kakuzu's threads and is only used as a last resort. Should he ever need to use this, it results in turning himself into a bomb. This is Deidara's CO-level art,
Kyuukyoyu Geijutsu.
Personality: Deidara has never turned down from a challenge. When Akatsuki has first approached him, he told them that he had no use for such an organization, being only a ninja-for-hire at the time. At the time, he believed that his art had been completely perfected, but after going against Itachi's Sharingan, the earth-nin's outlook had changed slightly.
He strove to make his art stronger, all the while constantly arguing with Sasori about what is and isn't art. At times, he can be extremely cocky that evens out with his aloofness. However, whenever he doesn't get what he wants, he gets irritated fairly quickly and that can drive him past the point of no return.
When it comes to Tobi, Deidara is known to grow annoyed of him extremely easy, resulting in several arguments between the two of them as well. However, when it's time for the two of them to fight, Deidara is essentially the one to do all of the fighting, not trusting Tobi to go at it on his own.
History: Deidara was born and raised in Iwakagure, but little to nothing is known about this period of his life. After abandoning his home village, Deidara became a mercenary-for-hire to keep his income coming smoothly, although Deidara really just likes to see things blow up. At some point in time, the Akatsuki oragnization sent Uchiha Itachi, Hoshigaki Kisame, and Akasuna no Sasori in order to recruit Deidara as a member of their secret organization.
At first, Deidara had refused, exclaiming that art was his first priority, other than some top secret organization. Itachi then challenged him, saying that if he won, he would have to join the Akatsuki, and despite thinking he had the upper hand, Deidara was actually trapped in Itachi's genjutsu from the start, losing the battle as a result.
Several years later, Deidara travels to Sunagakure with his partner, Sasori, in order to retrieve his Jinchuuriki, the Ichibi sealed within the Kazekage, Gaara. While attempting to sneak into the Kazekage's building for a sneak attack, Gaara catches him as soon at Deidara touches down on the building. The fight itself was long, almost to the point where Deidara was completely out of clay. In the end, though, he managed to gain the upper hand (despite losing one of his own), replacing some of Gaara's sand with exploding clay and detonating it close range to KO the jinchuuriki.
Three long days and three long nights later, Konoha's rescue teams arrived at Akatsuki's temporary hide out to reclaim the now-dead jinchuuriki. After a quick, last-minute argument about what is and isn't considered 'art,' Deidara used one of his many clay creatures to take Gaara with him, using the empty shell as a bait to lure Naruto, another jinchuuriki, away from his teammates. Unfortunately for him, Hatake Kakashi followed after Naruto. After several failed attempts of trying to shake Kakashi off, Deidara lost his other arm to Kakashi's Mangekyou Sharingan. With the last bit of usable clay, he managed to escape Kyuubifying Naruto's wrath with a bunshin. Safely hidden in the surroudning shrubs, he watched as Naruto recovered Gaara's dead body, nearly scared shitless of how frightening Kyuubi could be.
When Naruto had calmed down, Deidara took the opportunity to try and get rid of his enemies by making his bushin explode. Of course, Kakashi had nullified Deidara's last attack with his Sharingan. His associates, Zetsu and Tobi, had taken Deidara for dead when coming across Deidara's lost arm. Deidara showed up as soon as Tobi showed enthusiasm for the supposed-death and possible official entry into Akatsuki. Growing annoyed with the mask nin, Deidara attempted to strangle him with his legs.
Not too long after his encounter with the Kyuubi jinchuuriki, Tobi was assigned to be Deidara's new partner, due to Sasori's unexpected death. Their first mission together was to capture the Sanbi, the only bijuu without a jinchuuriki. With the help of his new partner, Tobi, the two accomplished the task with little to no difficulties.
