it's been many years since I had such an exemplary vegetable

Lately I've been busy writing a lot of *gasp* handwritten letters and adjusting to a new bedtime, so I haven't had any free time to spend on the internet unless I'm working -- and then it's not "free time" but actually paid time. Then I probably shouldn't be on the internet, right?

C'est la vie.

So you might ask, "Sarah, why have you been writing so many handwritten letters? Didn't hte ancient art of letter writing die about the time America Online come into being?" Yes, this might be true, but I've always been a fan of writing handwritten letters. There's something much more personal about holding something someone sat down and took the time to write to you in their own handwriting and then seal and take to the post office (or their mailbox, but I don't trust that so I always go to the post office...yes, I probably have OCD tendancies).

Ok, so on with it -- I've been writing John pretty much every day during his Army basic training. He graduates two weeks from Friday! I will be flying out there to support him and spend a little time with him, and I do mean little bit of time. He doesn't get overnight passes while his family and I visit, so we'll see him when they let us see him during the day. I think he might get an overnight pass on Saturday, and I'll still be there, but my flight LEAVES at 6 AM the next day. That's going to be an EAAAAARLY morning. I've considered not sleeping, but to be in the presence of no-sleep Sarah is a scary thing that I wouldn't wish on anyone - let alone 2 airplanes full of strangers.

*big huge sigh*

I don't like this military thing. I told John I didn't like the idea and didn't want him to do it, but if he did, I'd support it. I don't like that he will most likely get deployed to Iraq, Qatar or Kuwait sometime during his military career. I also didn't know that beyond his 4-year commitment of active duty, he has 4 more years of reserves. I just found that out from my friend's fiance who is in the National Guard and has been deployed to Iraq. She and her fiance have been such a blessing during all of this, because they -- Lindsay especially -- understand where I'm coming from and can also answer a lot of questions I have.

In other news...I cut my hair this morning. FOUR INCHES off. It's short...apparently like the bus I ride on (thank you, David). It's true. I am kind of out there, but y'all already know that. :o)

Other than that, there isn't really anything else new besides my bedtime, which I'm sure everyone MUST know about. Really, I'm just trying to get to bed between 9 and 10 each night and up between 6 and 7. I need 8.5-9 hours of sleep, but I've been going to bed way after midnight each time in my daily attempt to get as much done as possible in 24 hours. I've given that up and am trying to adjust my outlook to whatever gets done by 9 is done and the rest will wait until morning. There's no more use in sleep deprivation. I'm too old for it...hah. Not really, but I like my sleep.

All right. I need to get back to work, but I really wanted to write in this thing. Maybe it's all the extra energy from more sleep? Woo. Sleep!

PS I love this movie...

Mr. Darcy: How are you this evening, my dear?
Elizabeth Bennet: Very well. Only, I wish you would not call me "my dear."
Mr. Darcy: Why?
Elizabeth Bennet: Because it's what my father calls my mother whenever he's cross about something.
Mr. Darcy: Well, what endearments am I allowed?
Elizabeth Bennet: Well, let me think..."Lizzie" for everyday, "my pearl" for Sundays, and "Goddess Divine," but only on special occasions.
Mr. Darcy: And what am I to call you when I'm cross? "Mrs. Darcy?"
Elizabeth Bennet: No, you may only call me "Mrs. Darcy" when you are completely, perfectly and incandescently happy.
Mr. Darcy: And how are you this evening... Mrs. Darcy? Mrs. Darcy... Mrs. Darcy... Mrs. Darcy!
