Hey all. IAP is still doing it's thing, though this is the last week.
I've been busy! I don't think I mentioned that
mzsylver,
ebenezer, and I went to see the last show of "Rare Exports" at the Kendall Square Theater. Did you know that they have popcorn sprinkles there? We convinced the snack guy to let us have an extra bag so we could try two flavors. I think we over-sprinkled! Anyway, "Rare Exports" was a great Christmas movie. A totally fun action romp.
Saturday I went to work for a while, then Ross and I went to Grasshopper for dinner. I had the No Name special and Ross had the Happy Family. We split the giant appetizer platter. I already I knew that I loved the food there, and Ross was convinced too! So convinced that he hogged the leftovers.
Sister and I went to the MFA on MLK day. It was a bit of a zoo! We only managed to spend two hours there before we had to run out. We saw the Richard Avedon pictures, Fresh Ink: Ten Takes on Chinese Tradition, the Scaasi fashion exhibit, and tromped around the new wing a bit to just see what's going on in there. The conservation interactive exhibits were great! I want to go back some time when there's less people there and eat at the new cafe! We hung out that night and had dinner at my house. Well, lots and lots of snacks, which adds up to dinner!
Sunday night was a dinner out in Westfield for an old Wendell family friend, and I had a lovely time eating Italian food. The drive was a bit of a pain, but it was nice to get to see everybody and I was in a good mood!
Oh, and that weekend, I finally finished getting my golds in SSX3. For years, I hadn't succeeded in getting the gold on the final slope style level. So I made it work! And I finally killed the all peak races and the like. There is still more work to do, but now I have gone gold all over!
Last week was very thesis focused. I had my first class of "In Vino Veritas", the IAP wine tasting class. This class is awesome! Tuesday was "White Grapes", Thursday was "Red Grapes", yesterday was the "Importance of Geography" featuring chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon. Today is the "Importance of Age" and Thursday is the fancy stuff. Well, to be fair, we've had a lot of fancy wines already. Yesterday was a particularly pricey day. This is an awesome class, but it is killing me a little :D This is where one of my genius moments has come up this month; I had the genius idea of writing the names of the wines on the glasses, since we are each using 4 glasses... It's really worked wonders!
Wednesday I went to lunch at Cosi with Keith, where we both had our usual. Dinner was at the Friendly Toast with sister and Mew. Mmm... I had the Darn Good Grilled Cheese with sweet potato fries, a minted hot chocolate, and we all split a minty brownie sundae for dessert!
Friday night I had some folks over for cocktails. Even though there was a ton of awful weather, it all worked out well. The feature cocktails were the Manhattan, the French 75, and the Thriller (St. Germain, Peach Vodka, and seltzer, named such by my sister), though many other cocktails are explored. Genius moment: laying out instructions for the cocktails, so anyone could make them. Totally worked.
Also, for those on the West Coast, it has been snowing like no-body's business here. We're having another one tomorrow, apparently. Eep. The birds hang out on our patio in the snow!
