Parental Visit

My parents were in town visiting last week, from Wednesday to Sunday. We wore them out! On Wednesday I took mom to the pool at MIT before we head out to the afternoon Sox vs. Mariners game. Boy, it was raining pretty seriously. Mom and I got pretty soaked on our way there. Wet shoes and the like. Luckily, Vio got us seats in the grandstand under the overhang... she had thought it was going to be sunny and we'd need the shade! After that I just had mom and dad come to my house for dinner.

Thursday we headed to the Museum of Science during the day, and saw the Whales Tohora exhibit and Imax, as well as a lot of other cool stuff. I will put up some pictures and such. After a bit of a rest, we headed downtown to have dinner. We went to the place that used to be Buddha's Delight, but I think is now called My Thai Vegan Cafe... Pretty much the same menu, and still tasty! That night was Blue Man Group. We had seats in the front of the balcony. They are still doing the same show, Tubes, which I have seen a couple times, but it was still awesome. I think the second row of the balcony might actually be better, a slightly better view, but the balcony is the way to go. As per usual, there were moments where I just couldn't stop laughing. We were all pretty beat after that.

Friday we had Dunkin Donuts on my porch, which was very pleasant, and then took the harbor ferry from the Long Wharf to the USS Constitution. The ferry was pretty nice, the breeze was pleasant, and the ride was short! The views from the deck were nice. Out tour on the Constitution was fun, but quite crowded! Summer is full of tourists, which I sometimes forget. I got a little sunburned waiting for the tour! We took the ferry back, then headed to Harvard Square to visit the Harvard Museum of Natural History, where sister volunteers. We headed down to the mineral collections area, to meet up with Carl, my sis's mentor, and then we all headed to Tamarind Bay for dinner with Carl and his wife Diane. We all had a good time and a few laughs. The food there was good, and a little different than the standard Indian restaurant fare.

Saturday, Vio made us all a big brunch at her house, with bagels and potatoes and eggs and veggie sausages. Yum yum yum. It was a really relaxing brunch. Then we were off to Carson Beach, where we read our books, played frisbee, swam in the water, ate ice-cream, and played cribbage, was all pretty great. The day was a little on the cooler side, but it still worked to hang out in the shade of the trees. We had dinner at Vio's house again, ordering in from Stone Hearth Pizza. We ordered a lot of food, though maybe considering how hungry we were, not quite enough pizza. We polished off all the hot food, and a lot of the salads, too!

Sunday was Codzilla day! We were on the noon boat. It was a pretty fun ride, I enjoyed it, but it surprisingly doesn't feel as fast as you would imagine. The ride is pretty airy! This was the whole crowd, besides me and Ross and the rest of my family, sister's roommates Anton, Jamie, and Tyler, along with Tyler's friend Ann, joined us. We all were pretty impressed. Jamie was laughing hysterically the whole time. Understandably! So yeah, we had a lot of fun. After was brunch at Sel de la Terre, which I thought was pretty good! (Though they were out of many draft beers!) After, we were all so wiped out that we just hung out until mom and dad's airport shuttle!

Anyway, we had fun, and I think they had fun. We delivered a very Boston experience!
