my obsession w/bread

ever since i got back from mexico, i have been on a major carbohydrate feeding frenzy! i don't know if it's cuz i got sick in MX and all i felt safe eating after that was bread, or if i have finally just succumbed to my love of bread and crackers and all things carbo-laden. but - OMG, i freakin' LOVE bread and all bread-related products.

in fact, last night, i had a DREAM that i was at a party and was hiding in the kitchen (like, squatting down behind a counter top) with a basket of sweet bread in my lap and i was eating it. all of it! i just like the fact that even in my dreams i am A) eating bread and B) hiding and being secretive about my bread desires. too funny

and, as i write this, i am eating - guess what? some bread! it's a blueberry muffin, but totally in the bread family.

so - my trip to MX was amazing and wonderful and i am really happy i went back. was feeling extremely guilty about going and spending the money, but it was a very satisfying trip and i feel really lucky to have been able to get away for a bit. 2 of my fav yoga teachers were leading a retreat in Tulum and i went last year and loved it and decided to return. this year was even better than the last. the yoga classes were lovely and the ocean was gorgeous and i got in the water every day. it really was such a gift to practice yoga there and be in such a beatiful place.

halfway through the week, i did get violently ill. there was this weird 'yoga flu' going around our group and a lot us of got really sick for about 24 hours at various points in the week. don't know if it was food poisoning or a bug, but it was disgusting. in fact, the night it hit me, my roomate became sick around 11 pm and then i started to get sick around 1 am - but by that time, our toilet stopped working. so i ended up spending the night in a public washroom near the foyer of the hotel. literally, i woke up on the floor of this teeny bathroom. it was a crazy night, but about 12 hours later i was feeling better.

despite that disgusting adventure, my trip was incredible and i still want to go back next year. although, i will definitely pack some of my own instant food and bring some lactobacillus acidophilus...or something like that.

good times.

pass the bread basket, please!
