Sabrina
1954           4/5    - just wonderful
Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, William Holden

Linus and David Larrabee are the two sons of a very wealthy family. Linus is all work -- busily running the family corporate empire with no time for a wife and family. David is all play -- technically employed in the family business but never showing up for work, spending all his time entertaining, and having been married and divorced three times. Sabrina Fairchild is the young, shy, and awkward daughter of the household chauffeur, who has been infatuated with David all her life, but whom David hardly notices till she goes away to Paris for two years and returns an elegant, sophisticated, beautiful woman. Suddenly, she finds she's captured David's attention, but just as she does so, she finds herself also falling in love with Linus, and she finds that Linus is also falling in love with her.

There's nothing more refreshing to me than a good romance. I did think the end was a little lack luster.

Cold Mountain
2003              3/5    - I liked it
Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, Renee Zellweger

In the waning days of the American Civil War, a wounded soldier embarks on a perilous journey back home to Cold Mountain, North Carolina to reunite with his sweetheart.

--------
Renee Zellweger was fantastic in this!

The Talented Mr. Ripley
1999         2/5   - nothing special
Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow

The 1950s. Manhattan lavatory attendant, Tom Ripley, borrows a Princeton jacket to play piano at a garden party. When the wealthy father of a recent Princeton grad chats Tom up, Tom pretends to know the son and is soon offered $1,000 to go to Italy to convince Dickie Greenleaf to return home. In Italy, Tom attaches himself to Dickie and to Marge, Dickie's cultured fiancée, pretending to love jazz and harboring homoerotic hopes as he soaks in luxury. Besides lying, Tom's talents include impressions and forgery, so when the handsome and confident Dickie tires of Tom, dismissing him as a bore, Tom goes to extreme lengths to make Greenleaf's privileges his own.

I was pretty bored with this. I really didn't like seeing Matt Damon like that.

Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella
1997         1/5   - bad
Moesha, Paolo Montalban, Whoopi Goldberg, Victor Garber

Updated version of the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical of the classic fairy-tale, with an all-star, multi-racial cast.

--------
I liked the diversity in it, that race and ethnicity didn't really play a part. A black woman and a white man can have an Aisan child!

Brave
2012      3/5  - I liked it

Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse.

--------
I liked it. More than most of the other Pixar movies.

Urban Legends: Final Cut
2000     .5/5   - very bad
Jennifer Morrison, Matthew Davis, Joey Lawrence, Eva Mendas

Amy Mayfield, a student at Alpine University who struggles to complete her thesis film on urban legends - only to have her crew members fall prey to fatal 'accidents.' Suspicious, Amy investigates and discovers a much more sinister hand at work. Now she must unmask the killer before she, too, becomes an urban legend.

--------
This movie was terrible.

The Aviator
2004       3/5   - I liked it
Leo Dicaprio, John C. Reilly, Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin

The script begins as a young Hughes directs one of Scorsese's favorite ilms, Hell's Angels. Hughes was so obsessed with perfection in the aerial sequences that he waits forever for perfect conditions, right down to cloud formations. The Aviator ends in 1946, when Hughes was still a dashing young man and romancing actresses like Ava Gardner and Katharine Hepburn.

--------
Leo Dicaprio was very good.

Robin Hood
1973      3/5  - I liked it

Retelling of the Robin Hood legend with animals for the characters. Robin Hood is an outlaw who starts to form a gang in Sherwood Forest to fight the injustices of the Sheriff of Nottingham, who levies unpayable taxes upon the people.

--------
I liked it, but it wasn't great. It's one of my cousin's favorite Disney movies, she says so every time we play Disney scene-it. So I gave it a chance.

French Kiss
1995        3/5   - I liked it
Meg Ryan, Kevin Kline

Kate and Charlie have a perfect life planned out before them: buying a house, marriage, kids, the whole works. Her bag is stolen, the necklace apparently lost, and Kate and Luc head to Cannes -- Luc to find the necklace and Kate get Charlie back. Along the way, Kate and Luc begin having feelings for each other -- which change the course of their lives.

--------
It was cute. I need to watch more Meg Ryan movies. That's feel good watching.

Some Like It Hot
1959       3/5   - I like it
Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon

When two Chicago musicians, Joe and Jerry, witness the the St. Valentine's Day massacre, they want to get out of town and get away from he gangster responsible, Spats Colombo. They're desperate to get a gig out of town but the only job they know of is in an all-girl band heading to Florida. They show up at the train station as Josephine and Daphne, the replacement saxophone and bass players. They certainly enjoy being around the girls, especially Sugar Kane Kowalczyk who sings and plays the ukulele. Joe in particular sets out to woo her while Jerry/Daphne is wooed by a millionaire, Osgood Fielding III. Mayhem ensues as the two men try to keep their true identities hidden and Spats Colombo and his crew show up for a meeting with several other crime lords.

--------
I liked it, I'd watch it again. My first Marilyn Monroe movie.

The Rescuers Down Under
1990        3/5   - I like it

Cody, a boy from Mugwomp Flats responds to a distress call about a rapped giant Golden Eagle called Marahute. Freeing her, he gains a close friendship with the bird. With .transportation provided by the goofy Albatross, Wilbur, the agents arrive in Austrailia and link up with the RAS' local field operative, Jake The Kangaroo Rat. Together, the trio must race against time to find Cody, stop McLeach and save Marahute.

--------
I really liked Bernard in this movie! He was so cute fumbling around with that ring, and so brave when he came to rescue Bianca and Cody, and he totally saved those eggs from that super creepy lizard.

In The Good Old Summertime
1949      3/5   - Iliked it
Judy Garland, Van Johnson

It's turn of the century America when Andrew and Veronica first meet - by crashing into each other. They develop an instant and mutual dislike which intensifies when, later on, Andrew is forced to hire Veronica as a saleslady at Oberkugen's music store. What the two don't know is that while they may argue and fight constantly throughout the day, they are actually engaged in an innocent, romantic and completely anonymous relationship by night, through the post office.

--------
It felt like Judy Garland was very much overacting, like she's trying too hard.

Pitch Perfect
2012           3/5   - I liked it
Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson

The Barden Bellas are a collegiate, all-girls a cappella singing group thriving on female pop songs and their perfect looks. After a disastrous failing at last year's finals, they are forced to regroup. Among the new recruits is freshman Beca, an independent, aspiring DJ with no interest in the college life. But after she meets Jesse, from the rival all-male a cappella group, Beca has a new outlook and takes it upon herself to help the Bellas find their new look and sound and get back into the competition.

--------
It wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. I didn't like the remix! But 'Don't You Forget About Me' was very cute.

The Terminal
2004         3/5 - I liked it
Tom Hanks, Stanley Tucci, Zoe Saldana, Kumar Pallana

Viktor Navorski, a man from an Eastern European country arrives in New York. However after he left his country war broke out. Suddenly Navorski is a man without a country - or one that the U.S. cannot recognize, thus he is denied entrance to the U.S. However, he also can't be deported so he is told by the Security Manager that he has to remain in the airport until his status can be fixed. And also Navorski doesn't speak English very well, so he cannot talk to or understand anyone. But he somehow adapts and sets up residence in the airport, which makes the man who placed him there unhappy, as it seems he is in line for a promotion but Navroski's presence might complicate that. So he tries to get Navorski to leave but Navorski remains where he is. Navorski makes friends with some of the people who work in the airport and is attracted to a flight attendant he runs into whenever she comes in.

--------
It was a cute movie. I thought Catherine Zeta Jones's character was completely pointless. That was a chunk of the movie that didn't need to be there.
