"Prolonged. Intense. Complicated. Possibly involving fire ants," Dinah had to agree.
She took a breath, then took another. "So, yeah. Something to tell you. Which. I hope you'll take it okay. I mean, it's okay if you don't!... you're entitled to your opinion."
He'd be cool about it. Wouldn't he? Had to be. He was a good guy.
"About me. That I didn't tell before. Because...." Um?
"Me." Dinah tried not to sound crushed, wondered if that was too much information. "Um. I'm a meta." She swallowed. "And a touch-telepath. But I haven't used it on you before this, ever."
...except for maybe, a little bleed over from him on one or two kisses. She'd been very careful not to let it go the other way, though.
Well. He wasn't running out of the room? That was good, right?
She sucked at this. Dinah started pacing, not looking at him. "I never really know how people are going to take this, so I try to be honest, when, you know, they've gotten to know me, after a while. Except sometimes people are all 'you lied to me' about it when I don't tell them up front, but if I told them right off some people would either tell everyone in the world or they'd call me names, and ...." She lost her breath, and fetched up against the opposite wall, watching Kyle. "Yeah. So. Maybe should've told. Not shown?"
"Touch-telepathy. Skin to skin." Dinah's face flushed. "I can't hear what you're thinking now. And I can shield, so I don't hear even when I am touching you. Or you can't hear me." She swallowed. "Have you ever met anyone... like me, before?"
Which... could be bad.
Kyle tried his best to bury any anxiety (not really doing a great job of it) and plopped himself into the chair at Dinah's desk.
"Wouldn't want to piss Gabby off. Her revenge would be epic, wouldn't it?"

She was gay, wasn't she?
Kyle tried to keep the crestfallen look off of his face. "Hey, it's okay. We're friends, right? You can tell me."

Dinah took a breath, then reached for his hand. If he freaked out, at least she'd know.
So. Um. It would be obvious her lips weren't moving. And that the sound was coming form inside his head. How do you feel about metas?

"What was that?"

"No..."
"I mean, yeah..."
"Not what I expected."
He wasn't doing so hot with that whole 'being coherent' thing.

"You said... telepathy, right?"
So couldn't she just... you know, know?

He fell silent again after that.

"...so how was Christmas vacation?"
Talking about anything else? Maybe a good idea?

"Just like that?" he asked.

"I don't-- there's nothing else I can say to make this less weird." And me less of a freak. "We don't have to talk about it. If you don't want."
