New Gotham City, Wednesday

"So guys. What do you want to do first?" Dinah grinned at her friends around the breakfast table. "We've got tons of choices."

[for those in New Gotham, limited OCD going up; and if you need more inspiration, here, have a tourist map of Gotham.]

Oooo. Helena left her motorcycle in the garage at Barbara's place.

Silly, silly Helena.

And look, the Pier! With a Boardwalk and carnival games and really terrible junk food!

Not to mention Old Gotham on the way back, with some of the wrecked and beautiful resort buildings that were sunk in the earthquake more than a decade ago.

Priestly had never ridden a motorcycle.

Couldn't be that hard to figure out, though, right?

This would possibly end in tears.

"The Triumph Rocket III," Dinah said in worshipful tones. "Brand new. She got it in April. Taught me how to drive it in July." Dinah grinned at Priestly. "Helmet!"

"Dude," said Priestly. "You're so gonna teach me now, right?"

Dinah grinned and tossed him the extra helmet. "Hop on. I think a couple times around the block won't hurt it, right?"

Like Helena wouldn't notice the odometer had ticked up a few more miles after this? Riiiight.

Priestly caught the helmet, not even bothering to make a face when he squashed it down over his mohawk.

"Dude. So awesome."

Dinah rolled the motorcycle out of the garage, buckled her own helmet on, then got on it, jingling the keys she'd lifted from Barbara's pegboard. "Hop on back, and put your arms around my waist!" She flipped her visor down, and put the keys in the ignition, pulling out the choke and starting the purrrrrrrrrrrrr.

"Oh, sure, stick me in the bitch position. . . ." Priestly belied his words with a grin and climbed on.

Chortling, Dinah said, "I'm not reaching around you and smushing myself against you to try to drive this! You can just bitch at being a bitch first time through!"

Once he was firmly settled in place, though, she showed him shift into neutral, check the light, and the into first gear. "Hang on!"

Vrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmm!

Priestly kind of thought she could just, you know, tell him how to do that stuff.

But then they were off, and he tooootally didn't care any more.

Motorcycles were the shit!

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Dinah had to be extra-careful at the lights, but then really let loose when they hit the main drag near Grant Park. Circling around, she found an open alley, and turned her head to Priestly. "You wanna try it now?"

Oh, this is so going to end badly. Especially if they scratch the paint.

"Oh hell yeah!" Priestly was grinning like a moron. He made grabby hands at the handlebars.

Dinah swung off the motorcycle, then got back on behind Priestly, keeping it in neutral. She put her arms around him, and leaned in close to peer over his shoulder and arm to see the clutch and gear shift. "Okay. Clutch first. Caaareful."

"Dude, it's totally easy," Priestly insisted. He could drive the Cosmobile, after all, this couldn't be any harder than an aging VW, right?

Even if the clutch and the gears were worked by the wrong limbs.

"Uh-hunh," Dinah said, wondering if her TK was strong enough to keep the bike upright if they started to wipe out. She clutched at Priestly for a second, saying, "Just a little more..." as the bike started to move.

He totally didn't.
