...my friend Dave had his usual birthday BBQ around the fire at his place by the Merri in Coburg. He & his girly Nic had to have it a little earlier than usual cos she was due to have her baby at Christmas so they didn't want to take any chances. Baby Freya was born January 3rd after 13 hours of labour to a very happy Dave & Nic. 13 hours! ouch! very happy for them :)
Mid December I caught up with a whole bunch of people I haven't seen in aaaages at the Canning st Christmas BBQ ...I got stuck into the wine early on so I could eventually drive home by the end of it ...so needless to say I got caught up in conversation & forgot to take pics. The food was amazing! hats off to Jason & Peter for such an awesome spread, the vege lasagna was yum! ...& all those tasty salads. Lots of good convo & giggles. Finished off with a drive out to Ferntree Gully at 1am (this was around the period where I was unable to sleep before 3am) to save someone a painful PT trip home.
I went & checked out Wrestlerock at the Corner Hotel to see Joey Russel Jnr do his midget wrestler thang (he was the little dude in the Schadenfreude video clip ...Jason who shot the clip accompanied me so we could show our combined support as thanks for all his tremendous efforts) & I gotta say I was pretty damn impressed & got quite into it ...not as much as the big hairy scary sweaty blokes surrounding me but...
'scuse the quality of the pics ...I'm no sports photographer! & I was stuck with my shitty little compact.
Little dude ... he was flippin awesome ... he got thrown around so much that I'm pretty sure he was concussed when I met up with him after his round! ...could barely string 2 words together!
These lumberjack lookin blokes in denim were very homo-erotic ...I haven't seen so much face to groin action since I last checked out pornotube!
there were acrobatics, (fake) blood ...& lots of slapping!
I don't think I've ever heard as many inappropriate & politically incorrect jokes in the space of a couple of hours! ...they even dedicated a segment to Arabs & terrorism ...the kinda jokes you chuckle at very self-conciously ...once you manage to pick your jaw up off the floor that is!
