update

So yeah long ass time since I updated. I actually don't remember the last time I updated, but I know that it has been a while.

My summer was pretty good. Of course the wedding and honeymoon were awesome. After getting back from the honeymoon I started work at a flower shop near our apartment. It’s actually the same flower shop that did the flowers for our wedding. They are pretty nice people. They are out of their minds and most of them do not get along together, but they are nice to me. The drama there is getting a little silly though. People are now plotting to get other people fired behind their backs. I being friendly to everybody in the shop hear about all the plotting. I do not get involved, they bitch about each other and tell me about their plots and I keep my mouths shut cuz I don’t want to be in the middle of all that.
The job was pretty hard when I first started. There were a lot of things to learn and it was very complicated. But I think I am getting the hang of it now. There are still things I don’t know and I still have to ask a lot of questions, but I am getting more confident. For example today I made a $100 dollar arrangement and then sold it. That’s the most expensive arrangement that I have made so far. I have heard a couple of people say that I am a threat to the manager because I am getting really good at what I am doing. But I am not a threat to her job because I do not want her job. I have seen it and I don’t want it. But it was still a nice compliment to hear that they think I am doing such a good job that in a year I could have her job. I have not told them that in a year we will be moving back to the eastern shore. Which I can’t wait for. I am afraid to tell them that I will be leaving in a year because they might not teach me new things and increase my pay accordingly. I plan on giving them a couple of months notice before we move. I know the standard is only 2 weeks notice, but seriously there are a lot of things to learn in this job and they wouldn’t even be able to train someone in 2 weeks, let alone trying to find someone to do the job.

I started school sept. 2nd. It seems to be going ok so far *knock on wood*. I have a few professors that I have either had before or I know who they are. They are nice. I have one that I have never seen before so I don’t know how he is going to be. I am taking rendering, history of fashion, renaissance history, and subversive culture. Rendering is going to be a lot of work just because of all the drawings and paintings that we have to do. I took costume design last semester and I typically spent 15 or more hours a week outside of class doing the drawing assignments. I don’t expect the work load in this class to be any lighter. I also hate all the art supplies that we have to buy. But I know that my drawing skills improved during the last class, so I am looking forward to what I will be able to do after this class. Plus I will be taking three upper level history classes so it is a good thing that I will have one class that wont require me to cram dates and events into my head. History of fashion seems ok. I have had that professor before for something else and he seems to like me, which is good. We will study how people have dressed throughout history and of course write papers and be tested on it. Renaissance history I am not sure about. I have only been to the class once so far and we got out 45 minutes early. They didn’t have the air on in that building and we were in the basement. We were all sweating to death so he let us go early. So at least he has a heart, although he was wearing a suit so letting us go early was just as good for him as it was for us. It sounds like it is going to be a lot of reading and he said since we will be reading from classical texts that we will probably have to read everything several times to get the meaning. UGH! Subversive culture sounds really interesting. I think it will probably be my most interesting class. My professor has dr. in anthropology. She spent two years in South Africa studying culture and especially theater there. Then she spent 2 years in Cuba studying culture and theater there. And just for added fun she is a ballroom dancer. I have heard she is very nice and she seems to know her shit, so hopefully if I don’t get behind I will really like this class. Oh but there is one pretty big problem. I don’t have hardly any of my books yet. I was given a bunch of homework over the weekend to do readings for all my classes; well I can’t do most of it because I don’t have the books. I normally order my books from amazon and they arrive rather quickly. I normally go to the first day of class and then find out what my books are because they don’t friggin tell you ahead of time and then go to amazon and order them and I have them by the second week of class. Well as it turns out this semester I was supposed to run down to the bookstore and spend a billion dollars on books so I could do the readings for the next class. Oops. I guess its not a very good way to start out the semester. I have an assignment due Tuesday that I have to read and respond to questions, but I don’t have the book. I guess maybe Monday I can try and borrow a book from a friend. *fingers crossed*. I wish my books would hurry up and get here!!! Damn it! The first week of class and I am behind in all my classes already cuz I don’t have the friggin books! But I did buy a few! There were a few that I was told I would absolutely needed for the next class so I bit the bullet and went to the bookstore and spent outrageous amounts of money on the damn textbooks. I have so many this semester!!!

I guess that’s about it. Work and school are pretty much all I have time for. I just can’t wait to be done with school and get to move back to the eastern shore. I never thought I would miss it, which I don’t miss the eastern shore itself, I miss the people. :)
