Do bullets know?

Yet another kid falls victim to gun crime.   Sadly there seems to be one of these stories every week at the moment.

What I have noticed though, is that the kids who get knifed or shot are always innocent, well behaved, popular, kind, decent, helpful, hardworking model students.  It is quite extraordinary.

I started wondering if maybe shooters and knifers deliberately set out to target these paragons, or that they are less likely to carry weapons themselves and thus less able to protect themselves (although the police say the opposite is the case).  But these cases often, as in this latest incident, involve apparently random or even collateral acts of violence, which seems to discredit that theory.  All I am left with is that the price of being a model citizen is to be exceptionally unlucky.
