Doctor Who Season 9 arrives in the Standard Edition format next month
The next season of Doctor Who: The Collection to be released in the Standard Edition format is Season 9. Jon Pertwee’s third series as the Doctor sees the Time Lord still exiled to Earth without control of his TARDIS. In Season 9, he alternates between adventures defending the Earth alongside his friends at UNIT, and going on missions in time and space for the Time Lords. The new release will be in shops on the 3rd of February.
Across an action-packed twenty-six episodes, the Doctor and Jo (Katy Manning) face off against Daleks, Sea Devils, Ice Warriors, Ogrons, the evils of the future Earth Empire, and their old enemy the Master (Roger Delgado). Joining them in their adventures are the UNIT team of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart (Nicholas Courtney), Captain Yates (Richard Franklin) and Sergeant Benton (John Levene).
The Standard Edition features all the remastered Blu-ray quality and extensive extras as the previous Limited Edition. However, it comes in a slimmer more compact box and without the former release’s accompanying booklet. You can read our full review of the Limited Edition here.

The stories featured in Doctor Who Season 9 are
- Day of the Daleks - UNIT are assigned to investigate strange sightings at the location of an upcoming peace conference. With the fate of the world hanging in the balance, the Doctor discovers the war of the future will be fought here, tonight, for tomorrow comes the Day of the Daleks.
- The Curse of Peladon - The Doctor and Jo arrive on the planet Peladon, a planet on the cusp of joining the Galactic Federation. But change is never easy, and shadowy forces are determined to sabotage the negotiations, even if it means murder.
