1. When you are on a plane and the kid behind you is kicking your seat, what do you do?
This has two answers, the runner-up and the real one:
- What I want to do?
Kindly but firmly tell the kid to stop, and/or the parent(s) to keep their kid under control.
- What I actually do?
Nothing, then seethe and swear under my breath the rest of the flight.
2. What food that you KNOW is bad for you and you shouldn’t have, but you love/eat it anyway?
Well, it’s not food, but I drink way too many cola beverages, and I know it’s got hellalotta empty carbs, and it’s bad for the teeth and the gut, but I’m addicted, so there you go.
3. What is your favorite book of all time?
I have several books I come back to, again and again, but my favorite is H.L. Mencken’s ‘A Mencken Chrestomathy,’ a collection of Mencken’s favorite self-penned pieces, representing the scope and breadth of his millions of pubished words.
Over the years I’ve given copies to many friends, like the Gideons hand out Bibles, it’s that good.
4. If I came to visit you in your town, where would we eat?
Hmmm, there’s a lot of great restaurants here, but since I really like you and would no doubt be feeling generous, I’d spend the big bucks and take you to ‘Fogo de Chão,’ in downtown Minneapolis, the Brazilian Churrascaria.
Unfortunately, the farofa and rice is not the best I’ve had, but the salad buffet is to die for, and the meat selection and quality is amazing, served rodizio-style by waiters in mostly-authentic gaucho get-up.
I think you would really like it.
5. You have 500 dollars and 40 minutes to spend it at any store you want. Where do you go?
The Apple Store - but I wouldn't need all 40 minutes to by a new iPad, just sayin.
6. What blog do you read every day/the most often?
Okay, it doesn’t remotely qualify as a blog, but I’m going to say that these days I most often read the Facebook pages of a handful of people I know.
Sadly, old-fashioned blogging seems to have taken a bit of nose-dive in recent years with the rise of Social-Networking and the Twitterverse, as I suppose for most people it’s much easier to ‘like’ this and that on FB, or to just add a three-word comment to someone’s status update than it is to actually write something worth reading.
I admit, though, I do really miss way-back-when I’d post something on my blog(s) every day, when I'd read and comment the special bloggers who moved me with their writing, sometimes to laughter, sometimes to tears, but most of them seem to have stopped making the effort, have either gotten too busy or just burned out on it all.
(I’m not one to point a finger, cause I am too often unable or unwilling to write, either, though I really do want to.)
7. What’s the longest you’ve ever been stuck at an airport?
Kind of depends on how it’s defined, I guess, but I was I Miami International for maybe 16 hours, once.
Thing was, I missed a connecting flight from overseas, but since the airline was responsible, they put us up overnight at a hotel that was literally right on site, so I never physically left the premises.
So yeah, not very exciting or sexy, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
8. What’s your daily makeup/face/cleansing routine?
Shower, shampoo hair, shave, dry off, apply Ban Roll-On, and go.
9. Where is your farthest away friend?
Thousands of miles away in time and space, way-too-effing far, really, sometimes feels more like another galaxy, but then again, still closer-than-close, right here in my head and heart, always and forever.
10. Where is your favorite place to go hiking (or to enjoy nature)?
- Nearby?
Reservoir Woods or Silverwood Parks.
- Day Trip?
North Shore of Lake Superior.
- Long-distance?
Yosemite National Park.
