Monthly Home Inspections

As promised, another post.

Back in July, the apartment management decided they needed to replace three of my outlets: two in the kitchen, the 1 in the bathroom. Ok, it wasn't their decision, I later found out the property owner was trying to refinance and the bank insisted on a whole slew of inspections and upgrades. Normally the manager would wait for the tenant to move out, except some of them stay for long periods and the bank didn't want to wait for each unit to become available.

The following day the outlets needed to be looked at along with the smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher. That was followed by another inspection of the above followed by two re-inspections of the above.

Next was an inspection of the circuit breaker last month. This, in my opinion was a little odd when that essentially could have been done when the outlets were replaced 4 months prior.

This past Friday was the replacement of the (perfectly functioning) smoke detector in the main room and the installation of one in the bedroom. 12 hours after they did, I was awakened to the sound of the detector in the bedroom sounding. Nothing else going on in there (sidebar: I am currently sleeping on the couch in the living room because the bedroom is about 40° F). It wouldn't stop so I yanked it off the ceiling and ended up pulling out the battery pack. I considered taking it to the office when they opened, but I eventually re-inserted the battery pack (yep, it still sometimes beeps or chirps) and stuffed it beneath a pillow and blanket to muffle it when it does it again. Three weeks ago I called them for a repair and they still haven't done that so when they finally show up (or come in next month for another inspection/installation, whichever comes first) I will tell them.

Wondering what they will need to do next month.
