Work Stuff

Yes, it's been too long. Again. But I am still around. Lurking here every day.

Thank you mrs_sweetpeach for the Valentine's Card *swoon*

I still work at the acute care facility as a CNA. On Thursdays I now work as the Unit Clerk which involves printing the day's Dr progress reports for the patients and filing them into the paper/book charts and enter immediate lab work for patients through the night into the computer among other things. On occasion I have also been doing Telemetry Technician work which involves interpreting the heart rhythm of the patients who are on telemetry. They do not currently have Tele Techs 24 hours but corporate is requiring it. I was asked if I was interested, but that would require my working the hours of 3pm - 11pm Monday through Friday, which I was not interested in. I like being able to work three 12 hour shifts per week with overtime as an option.

We currently have a Tele Tech who works 3 - 11 but she plans to go to 11p - 7a as soon as they find someone else for the 3 - 11 spot. It's gonna suck because she has no clinical skills whatsoever and has been driving everyone crazy for the 4 hours we have to put with her. Every time a patient puts on their call light she calls the CNA to tell us. She does not understand --although we have told her repeatedly-- that we can't get to the patient's room because we are busy in another room. When we are finished in that room we will get to the next room. Some of us have had to take to ignoring L's phone calls. We are all tempted to shove her in a patient's room, force her to start cleaning someone's poopy butt and immediately bombard her with phone calls. We are supposed to keep our phones with us in the rooms but once we have to put up with her for 8 hours each night, phones are going to suddenly be forgotten outside the rooms.

In other work related news the Shedule Coordinator is about as smart as a box of rocks. Two months ago she pissed me off by constantly screwing up my current schedule (which we just started February 15 and ends March 28) by taking me off the nights I chose and putting someone else on in my place leaving me with less than a full time shift each week. It finally took having me threatening to speak to the Chief Nursing Officer to get things straightened out. The next schedule begins March 29. I've already filled it out and haven't heard from her so I guess it's ok so far.
