5 May. - I must have been asleep, for certainly if I had been fully awake I must have noticed the approach to such a remarkable place. Positive: Solictor's clerk completely failed to notice the absence of the butler thanks to an unexpected neck injury -- well, not so unexpected when you think about it. Plan to only use solicitors completely unused to the ways of noble houses working very well. Evident prior poverty might explain his utter fascination with the brand names of wine. Honestly.

Negative: opportunity to offer neck massange completely lost by failure to indulge in decent mouthwash. Must order new supplies from Berlin. On bright side, ongoing howling should keep Harker too tired to leave. Once he's tried the bathrooms, we have him.

Sincerely hope no one has left any bat dung in his bedroom.
