Please RSVP and invite friends, family, and readers! I included a note with my invitation saying that it's an invitation to blog, to sponsor, or to support bloggers in any way, and that spreading the word is very important.
I'll post tomorrow or later this week with some tips on running your blogathon, but basically - the main things we're missing with blogathon.org gone:
1. The ability to keep track of sponsorships automatically. My recommendation is to find your charity's direct donation link and include it in every post, and ask your sponsors to e-mail you their receipts. This makes keeping a running total harder, but we persevere.
2. The monitoring system. So ask your readers to stay awake with you in shifts to comment and keep you going! If there are other people blogging in your town, try to find a place to all blog together. I usually run a team of six to twelve bloggers, and we have a pit crew of 3-5 people in shifts to make sure food and hydration happens.
3. The connection to other bloggers. Well, we have that here. Let's use it. Without the site to support us, we will support each other.
