Hey LJ, 'sup?
Tomorrow, I leave for Taiwan. Somehow, I've built it up as this big thing in my mind... except it's not really. We'll only be there for four days, and I'm not even checking a bag for the flight there.
What does one need for a four-day overseas jaunt?
- passport
- camera
- charger
- money
- a couple of changes of clothes
- comfortable shoes
- printouts of bookings
- maps
- appetite

Sometimes I click around travel sites and look at articles advising on what to do/see/pack, and find myself rolling my eyes at some of the suggestions. In some cases, the tips really do merit it; in other cases, I have to remind myself that everyone has to start somewhere, and that my style of travel is not everyone's cup of tea.
Though I still laugh when I think about the girl who told me, in all seriousness, that's she'd "backpacked" around Europe, because truly the way of the backpacker is to take a taxi from the train station to your hotel in Paris, Rome, Vienna... Pffft.

Sometimes, if I sing a certain song, it brings everything back, and I'm filled with sadness for my younger self. If I could reach out and hold her, I would. There's not much I could tell her that she doesn't already know, deep down, but then she wouldn't feel so alone.
