Watching now: Num Baan Rai Gab Wanjai Hi-So

2012 hasn't been a good lakorn year so far but I think Mia Taeng is helping to kick start my lakorn watching again, albeit a little late in the year. Thanks to a recommendation from Fia, I now have something else to fill my time after MT: Num Baan Rai Gab Wanjai Hi-So (Mr. Farmer and his Hi-So Sweetheart). You can probably guess from the title that it's another city gal meets country boy (well, more like a man for this one) story but I don’t mind an old plotline if the execution is done right and NBRGWH is off to a good start.

Chompoo gets a role with more zest than Arunprapai here as Napdao, a Hi-So (socialite) from a noble and supposedly rich family. Unbeknown to the outside world, she's actually broke and has been keeping up her pretence of wealth by pawning expensive items left behind by her late grandfather and I'm assuming this will blow up in her face eventually and somehow force her to go to the countryside? Peter Corp is our p'ek Prap, owner of an animal farm and also the sole veterinarian in his village.

The story starts off fairly typically, guy and girl gets off on the wrong foot -> seems like they knew each other as kids and their dads had some sort of agreement -> they think they’d never see each other again but … …

I'm about 1.5 episodes in and it’s been a fun time so far. The story is lighthearted without being campy and even the catty exchanges between Napdao and her Hi-So rival Amy (is she Jenjira from A Person’s Value?) are amusing to watch. No evillllll villains plotting the end of the world or people hating on each other, I'm just happy to be swimming in the adorableness of NBRGWH.

Newbie Patricia Good plays Prap's daughter Noinah (I doubt they are biologically related. Prap looks too young to have a teenage kid) and she bears an uncanny resemblance to Vicky. Her acting is ok, but I guess not much is required of her role here. Noinah and her little boyfriend are incredibly cute though and I wouldn't mind seeing more of them. I have the feeling I’ll be abusing the words 'cute' and 'adorable' for future posts on this lakorn. XD
