So my dog speaks Spanish

Aug 30, 2010 16:36

I was watching a puppy program with my sister, and it once again baffled my mind that my adopted, 3 year old dog is housebroken, obviously trained not to bark needlessly, and just so well-behaved in general when he didn't even know the command "sit" when he came to live with us.

So, I got up, had him follow me, and said "sientate."

His butt hit the ground quickly.

Okay, let's double check . . .

Five sientate's later, I'm convinced. My pooch knows Spanish.

I looked up some commands quickly, and discovered that he also knows "echate" (down) but doesn't know "ven aqui" (come here). Oddly enough, "come here," "drop it," and "go potty" were commands he seemed to know before he came to live with us. I've technically already taught him "down," but he really is responding to the hand motion I make rather than the word. I can use "echate" with no motion and get him to lie down.

Anyone know of any good sites with some dog commands in Spanish? I'd really like to see what else he knows. ^__^
