With the beginning of a new year, the unfortunate reality has hit me: I'm getting old.
Well, it wasn't just the fact that it is now 2006 that has caused this. The other night, I spent the evening with my best friend in the entire world, Jeanie. We've been best friends for an eternity- probably close to 15 years. We've known each other even longer.
Anyhow, we were talking and catching up, and I realized just how many years have flown past me with just a blink of an eye. She mentioned that Matt had contacted her the other day (the pathetic fuck) as did his brother, Nick. It occurred to me that both of these people, who once were pretty much my entire world, have been absent from my life for four long years. Ironically, that is exactly how long they were present in my life.
Then, Brittanny and I went into the Sprint store yesterday, and I saw a girl working there who I knew in high school. She looked like an entirely different person, and I barely recognized her. It seemed like an eternity had passed since I saw her, but I suppose that is fortunate...I never liked her anyway. For the record, she seems a lot better now.
After, I was discussing last night with Tifany how it is now 2006 and we graduated from high school in 2000. She really made me feel a lot better when she said, "Omg, that's the better part of a decade!" Fabulous.
The absolute weirdest part was when I stumbled upon a CD binder that I filled from 1998-2001. I had been looking for it for months, but it just randomly turned up in my computer room this afternoon. I checked out all the CDs, and they have a massive archive of pictures, songs, and writings that I did during that time. It seems so historical and weird. It may sound cliche, but it seems almost like it was forever ago, but at the same time, not so long ago, too.
Time fucking flies.
