Christmas stories

Dec 07, 2008 03:33

Last Christmas I read a QAF "fanfic" that centered around a particular Christmas song. I'm not particulay religious, and I wasn't really familiar with the song, but after reading the story, I heard the song several times, and always thought of beautiful, sexy Danny O'Keefe.

For those of you who are QAF fans, the story will be easy to follow. For ( Read more... )

Glad you enjoyed my rec - I don't make many of them, but I am rather loud about them when I do, lol.

Hope you are enjoying the holiday season.

Cat, you are too kind. Thank you! I have a fondness for this story as well. I appreciate your bringing it to the attention of others.

But! I shall have to somehow record BR singing this song, or Sam would be wonderful, his voice is baritone. The two of them together would be awesome, as it is made for a harmony. But Michael Crawford does a good version as he really hits the money note at the end. There are a few other singers who do a good job with it. I shall have to send you a good version. The composer does a nice version that you can hear on you tube.

Well, I didn't say you were to fuck the composer, just listen to his version! LOL! I will definitely have to work on getting you a bearable version. Trust me, Danny's version does not sound like Clay Aiken...the only thing they have in common is they are both gay. I doubt I could get Sam to sing this song, though, he is even less partial to religious songs than you, despite being yet another "technical" Episcopalian. The issue of a gay marriage or union being treated as fully equal is one which, like a bi-racial or interfaith union, isn't over with one big happy hug-fest. It has to be re-won every Thanksgiving and every Christmas for years. Pretty much until there is a new target to divert some of the attention. Aren't families great ( ... )

Ah, the more I hear about Sam, the more I like him!

It's really hard to find a good baritone singer - seems as if most popular singers are tenors. Even in opera, baritones are usually the Bad Guys (although I do love Baron Scarpia in Tosca, and of course Don Giovanni - one of the sexiest bad boys in opera. The last two productions I saw, Giovanni was played by a pretty hot guy. One had shoulder-length black hair and stalked around stage shirtless or with his shirt unbuttoned to his waist and hanging half off his shoulders. The other was overtly sexy in a menacing way. Both were believable as men who easily seduced others. Very hot). If you find a good version of someone singing who sounds like Danny, you should post it at your LJ!

I'm luckier than Danny, in that my family has no problems with my relationship, and SO is as much a part of the family as my sisters' husbands are. I was referring to Prop 8 - its passage is overshadowing this otherwise optimistic holiday season.
