Assuming your climate is just like ours, no, this year's coriander won't regrow into cilantro this season, but it should next spring if you keep ignoring it. The seed pods have to ripen and dry up and fall off before they'll sprout again, and mine are still mostly green. I get one large volunteer batch every spring, then it usually bolts by mid june. Reseeding anytime this or even next month should bring a second full batch, though.

I don't usually have deer, thankfully! I'm just on the wrong (right?) side of the busy street where they don't often cross. My friends a half mile away have to protect -everything- though.

I really want to rip out some of my sad shrubs and plant some Rose of Sharon. I LOVE their flowers. Currently the only plant I have of it is intertwined with my front hedge, so it often gets trimmed right in time to kill the buds, since it grows pretty fast.

What blooms the longest? Looking back over my SOTY entries, I'd guess it to be the lilies, as they lasted in total almost 4 weeks, while most everything else is 1-3 weeks. Or possibly the spirea, although I'm honestly not that taken with the variety I have so I usually ignore it.

I loooooove those flowers! I have to consider this in long-term plans, though, because the places that I think Rose of Sharon would go in my yard are currently places where there are existing trees/shrubs, and those would need to be taken care of first. Then I need to figure out how to mould it properly; I have a neighbor who grows it into a hedge, and another one who grows it into a tree, and I think I like the tree version better, as long as it fits.

Lavender is a perennial, so I can't imagine anybody being remotely bothered by giving you a few roots. Just gotta get up the nerve to ask. Good luck!
