tell me what you see in me

Dec 21, 2010 18:22

The solstice moment passes this evening, and hope for a sunny, warm world returns once again! Every stolen moment of daylight will come back, and the world continues on once more in its path around the sun.

But while the revolution of the planet remains constant, I don't have to. I want to change; I want to grow; I want to improve myself and be a better person next year than I am right now, and I want that to be my goal every year.

This year, I am asking for help.

In your opinion, what do you think I should do this year to improve myself and become a better person?

Define "improve" and "better" however you feel is most useful to you. Feel free to leave personal criticism ("You smell and should shower more often") or general advice ("Give more money to charity"). Or perhaps offer me a challenge, be it of a single goal ("Make something and try to sell it on Etsy") or an ongoing commitment ("Try a new recipe at least once a week"). Be as blunt as you want about deficiencies you see in me ("You are lazy and selfish") but please also include specific suggestions for how to fix those shortcomings. I would honestly find the personal criticism more valuable, which is why I'm asking you, dear reader, and not doing generic websearches on self-improvement.

Anonymous or private mail are both fine if you don't want to comment here. Don't worry too much about my ego; it's doing just fine right now. I promise I'll read with an open mind and will take honest critique in whatever spirit it is intended. I will likely query for specifics to make sure I understand your point of view more clearly, and then do whatever I think is appropriate with the suggestions I get.

This offer is open from now (the seasonal new year) through the end of 2010 (the gregorian new year). Void where prohibited. Enter as many times as you'd like.
