I'm also thinking back and trying to figure out if I could possibly have solved any of those kinds of puzzles at age 8. I'm not entirely sure.

He did the algebra puzzle with no problem, except that I had to tell them that * and / were multiplication and division, and apparently a couple of the other kids didn't know how to to division (I forget how much extra he picks up, even though he claims to be not interested).

And I told him to txt the phone message, since he was getting confused on that. But he got the shed one way incredibly fast, with no help, and the girl shouted out the fridge answer almost immediately. So overall, it seemed about the right level.

It's pretty clear why skating rinks and mini golf places are so popular for birthday parties. It's SO much easier to let other people do the planning for how to keep them busy for 2 hours!
