when the trees are crowned with leaves

May 04, 2008 23:08

Springtime has come in full force to my little yard, and it is so delightfully fun. My apple trees blossomed and snowed little white petals all over my front lawn, and the bushes by my porch are starting to open up their flowers. Almost all the little seedlings I started a while ago are poking bits of green through the soil.

One of my favourite songs, that.

At least, in the original. Not the techno version.

I like this version, which is certainly more processed than the album version (and has those spiffy boingy sound effects), but isn't as hardcore as the other dance remix version I've heard. That's probably the techno one you mean, though. :)

Back to the topic, my techno-garden makes me sad. I wish I had real soil, weeds and vermin, a compost pile, and at least a chance at growing veggies. Instead, I've got four planters.

I am delighted with my compost pile, although mostly I love it as a form of recycling, as a way to productively reduce my trash output. Except I think I need to do something with it soon, as it's a little too useful. :)

I've never actually grown anything useful before (last year I had a tomato plant which didn't actual produce edible tomatoes), so I hope something I do this year works out. Eee!

Really? I recall episodic pesto overloads.

Yeah, that was from basil acquired from Pod's farm share order. Nothing there was homegrown.

One side benefit is the beat-up cars with big stereos blasting by to the tune of Loreena McKennitt.
