I think I'm really kind of sad, because I've been thinking this over. For one thing: Beedrill is a bee, Vespiquen is the wasp of the Pokemon world. Even though it evolves from another bee, which is a bit weird, but then Beedrill evolves from a caterpillar and it doesn't do to scrutinise Pokemon evolutionary lines too carefully. And Vespiquen is a female-only species. Granted, we're never told that the Vespiform aren't female, but if they are then you've got to wonder why they both pretend to be. Plus, they can impregnate people. I'm pretty sure Vespiquen can breed, though, because I know Combee can and there's no real reason why they shouldn't be able to. Unless they're like Nidoran, which I don't think they are.
