Right now, in my time zone, it's 11:40 AM. (This'll undoubtedly have changed once I finish this entry - shit, it's just gone 11:41.) If you know my year of birth, which is pretty easy since I have it on my profile, you're probably not caring wondering why I'm not in school, sitting in an RE class and spacing out. This is because I threw up in the bath yesterday evening. Happily, nobody was in it at the time. TMI, I know.

Anyway. I have History homework. I am not currently doing my History homework, but I might be in a little while. And I still haven't figured out why I opted for History over Geography or Music - the first one has more school trips and the second one I'm actually decent at. But hey. As part of this homework, I tried to slog through half of the WWI textbook earlier this morning. I managed about ten pages before I reached the photo of the man with trenchfoot and felt sick. So, instead, I reread Monstrous Regiment.

The funny thing? I don't know if I'm actually picking anything up in these courses, but I think I like the darker parts of the book a bit more now. On all my previous readthroughs, I tended to skip to the "lol lesbians" passages. Come to think, does Lofty even have a fanbase? I mean, by herself, not just as something for Tonker to boink?

I guess if we were studying the French Revolution instead of the First World War, I might actually feel better about Night Watch. Not that it's hugely likely. Night Watch is depressing. Even more so when I realise that all the slaughter takes place on a fictional parallel of my birthday.

(Just out of interest, it's now 12:01.)

On the off-chance anybody is reading this - anybody have any tips on writing fights or otherwise action-packed scenes in fic without making things either totally pedestrian or overly dramatic? Currently I'm working on bits and pieces of this WIP no I can't post up chapter four without finishing the first one aaargh and Jenrya is being... well, boring. He shouldn't be boring! The Metal Gear Solid rip-off looked like beautiful crack in the plot outline! He's even got a cardboard box, ffs! Excess of exclamation marks!

Also, when you realise there's an author who's already done the "human characters are part-Digimon" thing much neater than you could pull it off, would it be bad form to go ahead with it anyway?

Questions, questions. But it's now 12:13, and I think I need to get a drink.

digimon, discworld, thoughts on ___, rl, whining, irrelevant
