I have it partly because I feel LJ has forgotten the original user base here and turned into a commercial entity (sick of those snow men at the top yet? :P sick of being told what you can and can't post for legal reasons? sick of being told there's this great new functionality - if you live in russia? Sick of being told there's this great new functionality and finding out it's really limiting or shit? Sick of your friends giving you 'cans of pepsi' because it's some stupid freebie promotion?)... and partly because my friends are slowly de-bunking out to it.
So I've set mine up to cross post directly to here if I do post there, and post just a few things there. It then posts on here too. My LJ can be exported there (and I'll probably do that in the coming weeks when I have time to do it - apparently it's super easy), and it has all the other nifty features I like if I want. There's a weekly news update that tells you what is happening and it's actually relevant, easy to understand and not full of fluffy dragon speak - if you want an invite code and to go play there I can give you one (or anyone else - I've got a couple I think).
What it doesn't have is a direct feed from LJ - so you can't just read your LJ friends over in DW. Which is as annoying as hell - because I'd have bailed. BUT that's because LJ is being a turdburger and protecting their commercial interests I assume and not sharing it. I might also try to find an RSS feeder for LJ or something that lets me feed the LJ over to DW. There is almost definitely a way to do it around LJ's current basic system. Mind you ... this is part of the reason to leave LJ. LJ used to be open source, open access, open in it's mindset.
