I used to scuba :-0 Yeah it is hell walking back along a looooong pier, let me tell you those jacket-thingys weight a freaking TONNE!!! That's it feels like anyway. Luckily the tanks are generally very night these days, esp when empty. You wouldn't believe how much compressed air can weight! I used to just swim back if I was exploring a long pier. Piers are AWESOME dive sites; the fish! The 'rays! The odd little shark, penguin, mobile phone.... :-D
I love how in the first shot it looks like the guy is jumping into the water to eat and attack the swimmers in the distance. I love shooting (with a CAMERA!) people jumping off piers, makes for really dynamic and fun pics :-)

It's probably not the most comfortable get-up in the world to be walking around in, you do get used to it tho. You wear bathers underneath (unless you're kind of gross!) so what most of us do is unzip the top half and pull it off to help ease the heat. When we're not wearing the jackets (known as BCD's) and tanks anyway. The way most wetsuits for diving are made allows you to zip it up at the back and either pull it straight down or, if you have a mental somewhat homicidal one like mine, pull half off over your head and attempt to not suffocate yourself in the process. The water stays in the wetsuit a fair while is that acts sort of like a cooling device for a fair while too. I generally used to try and spend as much time as possible IN the water rather than out. Often meant swimming out to the end of the pier or whereever I wanted to explore, but since the wetsuit gives you a natural bouyancy (god I can't spell that word!!!) it's not exactly hard :-)

Creative pics once again! But OMG, I did NOT need to be reminded of that freaking long walk. It was SO much further than it looked, lol! And to add insult to injury, I have no personal photos to prove it. :\
