holy crap my horse is on FIRE.
been easing him into work over the past week. he was off yesterday - stiff, jolty & numerous tail swishing. but i account that to flies - today i zapped him with the bug spray and he was...
JOYOUS.
we did loads of (bad i'm sure) lateral work just at walk & then some trot work. he bounced into this fucking AMAZING, elevated trot & i was concentrating so fucking hard on staying straight, shoulders back etc.
then... the automated sprinklers came on and scared the bejeeeeeeeeeeebus out of him & we went pigrooting/bolting across the arena. lost my reins & had about 20m of OHMYFUCKINGGOD before i managed to retrieve my right rein and one rein stop him. even then he had ants up his fucking pants and was trying to canter on a 5-10m circle. silly boy. once he stopped & we got straightened out, i just pushed him into canter (from halt) and got him going *forward* again. he was quite jackhammery/giraffey & we'd lost all the nice calmness & bounce of our previous trot work. half halted about every 3 strides until he... relaxed. really visualised riding UP & LIGHT and wow, it worked. he chilled.
then spent about another 10minutes re-establishing that nice 'special' walk work he'd given me before - lots of yielding, bending, spirals etc.
then another trot & VOILA - just GORGEOUS. pretty much ended it there.
