Farm Photos

(11.12am just checking if the border works... i'll be adding more pics to this in an edit 11.41am - done.)

Warning... LOTS of pics.

My militant stepmother. She's about 4'nothing and carries around a .410 shotgun shooting at unfortunate parrots who make the stupid decision to eat from HER fruit trees. she's crazy.

the TramLine. I used to walk along here to the bus stop. it's about a km or so.

The room where i stay. NOT my bedroom which has been taken over by JUNK.

A female splendid blue wren. too bad i didn't get a photo of the male wren. they look something like this:

One of their old nests.

Jed and i are toying with the idea of getting married in this spot. it's blurry cos i was driving!

I love the macro on my camera!

Boots, one of the chi's.

A jacaranda branch. these really are impressive trees. the ones on the farm are small & flower later than in the city (must be temperatures?). they are amazing looking trees.
they can look like this:

Boy, purebred kelpie. restrained by the fence from helping dad.

i love how the fuel guage is in fractions.

i got a kick out of how the lights are labelled. what de?

Yes, i discovered White Balance.

Further evidence of the White Balance discovery.

the boards behind are the fence underneath our shearing shed. lock sheep up if it rains.

The extremely rickety staircase to our shearing shed. i used to RUN up and down these. now i daren't!

Inside the shed. my dad, with Spot supervising. he's holding an ear tagging device which i used shortly afterwards to tag about 200 sheep, which were off to market the next morning.

sheep butts!

these sheep are crazy fuckers. they're probably about 75% dorpa (south african shedding sheep) and they are TOUGH mofo's. they will JUMP out of their pens. see the one with it's head sticking up? it's calculating distance & striding. i had to go along in this race & tag their ears with coloured clips, which identified them as our sheep when they went to the abbatoir. Fat lambs fetching $80-100 each. not bad.
i felt a tad squicky about the ear tagging, but there was no blood & it was relatively quick. only one of them moved which resulted in a huge rip in his ear. :(

an enormous squash of some sort.
