i love that my job is transferable. i get long service leave (one term - 10 weeks approx) in 3-4 years. that will make me 33-34. perhaps i will apply for 3 terms leave without pay, opening me up for one year where i could go travelling.

wonder if the united states has a similar program? i would LOVE to do this - 6 months in the uk & get around europe & see people i love & 6 months around the usa & canada doing the same thing? o damn, both places have summer around the same time so that would mean no work from july-september or whatever... maybe that could be my long service leave time? and i would come back to australia and start again mid-year.

then after that perhaps it would be time to think about a baby. either that OR a buying a house, lol.

kids are funny. for so long i really ached to have a kid. now, not so much. jed is all, "WHEN..." and i'm like, "IF..." haha. i really LIKE my lifestyle.

i know that seeing the world in some way is something i have to do & i definitely will NOT be able to do it if i have a child in tow. i wonder what jed would think of this plan? not a lot, i'm sure... i've had fairly hairbrained schemes before that he's just nodded & smiled to & mostly because of finances i've opted out.

like this Kontiki trip to america at the end of this year that Rhiannon and Jo are doing. i don't wanna. i don't want to spend $5k+ on a drinking binge around, doing an organised tour when i'd MUCH rather visit LJ friends.
but i DID wanna for about a week!

anyways.

interesting stuff, home, work
