ugh, internetz politicking
there's a situation on the other forum i'm a member of.
basically someone off the forum (an 18yo girl) leased out her pony to someone else on the forum (a 12yo girl in a town about 4 hours away). girl is VERY excited, family are thrilled.
for whatever reason, 18yo has taken pony back. i strongly suspect just jealousy & general all around flakiness.
i KNOW that's bad form & really the family should have had a watertight contract to prevent such an occurance.
anyway, now family of girl are doing all these 'woe is me' posts on forum and 12312 forum members are jumping up and down to support them saying what a bitch (basically) 18yo is.
so *i* post saying "that's terrible, omg i'm sorry.... BUT it's HER horse, her decision... lay off... shoulda got a contract...." (basically) and i'm the ONLY one who has remotely said anything favourable towards the 18yo and MY comment gets deleted and the thread closed because personal stuff needs to stay off the forum???? yet there are other threads started by the family (and continued by forum members) about the situation???? for christs sake.
to be honest, if i were a mod of that forum, i'd be sending some PM's to the family telling them to shut.the.fuck.up. and quit posting so many pictures and threads with "doesn't he look better now?" (like, they've had the pony for like a month or something!) because OF COURSE that's going to freak his owner out. i know members are just supporting a 13yo beginner rider & being super nice, but by doing so they are totally alienating his owner, who is NOT a grown up and IMO has every right to get upset - i parallel it to me feeling jealousy over stacey bombing around with beejay so well ('cept i'm a grown up and have to deal with it).
meh. i just don't think things are so black and white as everyone people like to think. there is ALWAYS a grey area. when i think about myself as a person, i think it's a positive thing about me & that i try to consider all aspects.
one thing i don't see a grey area on is the Horse Riding Lion & i simply cannot indulge the idea of that as a 'cultural' thing because it is NOT. there are some other non-grey areas for me as well, like rape and child abuse.
but i certainly don't think renegging on a lease is worthy of the OMFGDRAMAZ that it has incited.
