today i drove out to see blitzen with my friend rhiannon. he's way down the back of the property and i whistled & called & sung out for bloody ages & NO sign at all from him. so we trudged down the back - i kept calling out. eventually i hear this far off whinny, and he appears on the horizon looking windswept and all "black stallion-y".
i put his bridle on because his halter is MIA. as we were leading him back to my car, he barged me a TAD (hardly at all) and i instinctively body blocked (chicken dance) him. BOY.
i did it again and he was BOGGLED! he refused to look at me and held RIGHT back when i moved forwards & asked him to follow.
it was kind of cool.

he's so fucking different to beejay. so EASY- i used to think he was pushy, but he is NOTHING like beejay. he'll hold back and he totally doesn't need to be in your face. his energy is just so low key & different. he changed a bit when we got back to the sheds & my car - the property owners have been renovating their sheds etc, so he was a bit WOOAOAOAHDLA at that, but even then, he's so different! his eyes bug out a bit (beejay's dont, not even when visiting beejyland) and he gets cresty & needs to look at things, but he doesn't panic about it.

he isn't oral like beejay and doesn't need to always be chewing or playing with stuff. i dont' get the feeling that he was a child/human in a past life at all. he also seems really interested in what people are doing and what's going on around him. like he's happy to watch stuff, whereas beej is extremely aloof & unless his brain is being fried, he pays no attention to things outside of his circle. huh. maybe this translates to why beejay needs SO much rider input - inside leg, outside rein, half halts (his rider needs to constantly remind him they're there - same with yielding & games on the ground to get him to focus)... and blitzen is very point & shoot & often needs a bit of nagging to move forward - to busy being chilled out and watching the bees in the flowers???? idk, i think it's an interesting analogy.

anyways, it's so nice to be around him. he just feels So good and warm & friendly.

I had a very quick bareback ride, then rhiannon got on. she's a total beginner - ridden like, 2x in her life, last time was 14 years ago. i was very naughty - we forgot helmets & i had no saddle, so she had to deal with bareback. wasn't a problem for him tho. she's a natural horse person tho & it was so awesome watching her on him. she got SUCH a thrill & was "oh my god"ing the whole time! she said she could totally understand why i loved horses & riding so much. i reckon she's a convert if i keep at it.

friends, blitzy
