Back to school (?)

Sep 10, 2008 00:17

Well, not for me. Next week is the User's Group Meeting at work, though. this is when we host a conference for 2000+ people who use our software to come and exchange ideas. It's not entirely unlike http://www.ted.com/. by the way, if you have a few hours to kill, go there and see some of the talks. Amazing stuff there.

Today I passed an intermediate goal to reach 189 lbs. Only 9 more (!) and I will weigh what I did when I was in drum corps / college. Granted, I am not in quite as good a shape, and more of the 180 was muscle back then but I feel really good making this happen.

Some recent cooking successes: pies, scones, and marinated beef teriyaki.

Work: hours are back to normal. I have negative vacation days but that will straighten out in another month.

Now on to archlords' meme:

A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs & replace any question that they dislike with a new question formulated by themselves.

B) Tag 8 people to do this quiz & those who are tagged cannot refuse. These people must state who they were tagged by & cannot tag the person whom they were tagged by. Continue this game by sending it to other people.

That's like a chain letter. If someone feels like doing this meme, they will. That's why it's a meme, you don't have to badger people to do it, it is self-replicating.

1. What are your nicknames?
Kracka, Ralphy and Blue BLocker from drum corps. Currently, I don't get called anything besides "Graeme" or "I have a billing question" when I'm at work.

2. What do you do before bedtime?
Stepmania most nights, shower, read.

3. What fandom(s) are you most into at the moment?
Anime is pretty much on hiatus now. Drum corps season just ended, so I have tons of free time.

4. What is your favorite scent?
Fresh-baked anything. Especially if I made it.

5. What video games are you playing at the moment?
None - but I left this question in because it is useful to know about me. I used to play a lot of games.

6. What do you eat the most?
I eat oatmeal most mornings.

7. What's your favorite pair of socks?
I have one main brand of hiking socks. I have 10 socks that are the same.

8. What was your first big fandom?
First fandom but I didn't know was a fandom: 90's anime
First fandom when I knew what I was getting into: AMVs

9. Is there anything that has made you happy in the past few days?
Besides making one of my health goals, it was a happy weekend for several local sports teams. And I spent some quality time with a new friend.

10. Do you have a good body-image?
Hell yeah, the hair growing out is probably bothering some people though. I am amused.

11. Is being tagged fun?
I usually ignore being tagged. It's like those e-mails that you are told to pass along in the next 15 minutes or else YOU'LL DIE or whatever.

12. What websites do you visit daily?
Many. They all feed into my google reader.

13. What city, country would you most want to live in if not where you are now?
Tokyo, Japan, would be awesome. Given conditions at work, some place in Germany or the Netherlands is more likely.

14. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
He is an intelligent chap who is always happy to see me, and I suppose that isn't often these days.

15. What’s the last song that got stuck in your head?
It changes like every 2 minutes.

16. What’s your favorite item of clothing?
Black boots. Mine need to be polished.

17. What's better: to give or to receive?
I have control when I'm giving.

18. What would you do if you see $100 lying on the ground?
I agree with archlords about turning it in. Otherwise, I would donate it somewhere. I'm not that desperate for cash.

19. You are going on a long trip, maybe to the place you want to live in from above. What items do you have to bring?
Glasses, keys, multitool, pocket-knife, bicycle, T.H.E. wallet, and a sturdy bag to hold all this shit.

20. What should you be doing right now?
Sleeping.

21. Do you always use conditioner when washing your hair?
I don't always shampoo. But when I do, I follow with conditioner. It just makes no sense to completely wash my hair every day when I sit around in an office. Why end with this question?

22. Is the particle accelerator in Geneva going to destroy the world?
No, but Zork will take care of that.
