Tonight was the third day of the Go Live, and at 2200 we closed up our computers and left the command center. Since all of the buildings are connected - hospital, clinic, and our hotel - by walkways, we took an elevator UP to the first walkway.
And saw a guy trying to get into the main building from the walkway. And he was covered in blood.
I didn't look too closely - but he was missing part of a finger, and was bleeding real bad. Well obviously this man needed to get to the ED stat. Except we didn't know where to go. My co-worker picked up a "red telephone" to call for help but at the same time, a nurse happened to come down the walkway from the adjoining hospital. Seeing us, she immediately led the way to the ED. I followed the nurse and the bleeding man down to the ED. It took less than two minutes to briskly walk there.
A trail of blood was left on the floor and surely I stepped in some of it.
The weird part is, how did this guy get into the walkway next to our building, but not the hospital next door? This wasn't a ground floor entrance - this was the third floor! What was he doing? I am really curious what happened to him but I can only speculate. His clothes were dirty like he had been in a field, or digging.
So yeah, the Go Live is going pretty well. I'm guessing they had an Add-on case tonight!
