The second Monday of the month, every other month, is the division meeting at work. Just under a thousand people descend on the auditorium and have a meeting. It's more like a presentation series, since any group over about 30 ceases to function as a true meeting. To make the atmosphere enjoyable instead of stuffy, they usually serve us popcorn and pop, with coffee, cocoa, and tea available as usual. I was all set for today's meeting. I had my thermos ready to go for some cocoa, and I was ready to grab some popcorn and sit down, when I noticed: NO POPCORN. Instead, someone decided, because it was cute or whatever, to give us cookies.
But these weren't just any cookies. On today of all days, when it is below freezing and it had started snowing (again), they served us "ice cream cookie sandwiches." It has two chocolate chip cookies with ice cream in between. WTF? It's December! I think somebody was having a little fun here.
In my last post I neglected to say anything I DID while I was at home last time. So, quickly, Jessica and I got into town very late Wednesday night before Thanksgiving. I scarfed down some carry-out chinese food. Thanksgiving was at Omi's (grandma on my mom's side) and was wonderful. We kind of avoided by dad's family all weekend, but we got to see my other grandma which was nice.
Friday, mom, brother and I got up very early to do a little black friday shopping. We didn't buy all that much, mostly looked at cool things and watched people. I think we spent more at Panera than any other place. Panera opened at 4 a.m., poor bastards. This was also the first time I ordered a "short" drink at Starbucks. I suggest everyone try it. I got a few things from mom for my place. Nice mom. Got back and took a nap.
We saw a movie and met
archlords. We went out to eat korean food at Bea One and he and I went to his mother's place for a bit and looked at anime and manga stuff for a while.
Saturday wasn't very exciting but I wanted to mention that my Dad was really cool and decided to have a nice family dinner with us, and continue to detach himself from his brothers. What a nice time.
