So, for those of you following...
The trip to
The LaSalle Network went well in my opinion. I got there about quarter to ten and filled out a bunch of paperwork. Then was interviewed by someone who is now part of my "team" named Ryan. She was really nice and was also an English major so she agreed with me the pain of having people think that all you can do in life is read books. Then I had to go take some tests... ohhhh. They were on the computer programs that I said I knew. AHHH!!! Yeah, so instead of just being able to put on your resume that you know everything about anything there ever has been ever you are tested! Ryan assured me, before I could become upset, that it wasn't a big deal. That she actually failed her Excel exam and all that meant was that if a company is looking for someone who is a master at Excel they just wouldn't hire her.
Well, I failed Excel.
It was so stupid though. You have to do the act they are requiring without any assistance or time to think whatsoever. So, the fact that I got 50% was not horrifying to me. I then got 87% on Microsoft Word; I would have scored higher except for some minor mistakes that in real-life I would notice and then fix. Then a quick typing test. 70 words per minute with zero mistakes, not bad I say, not bad. I still can't believe that the average is around 33 wpm. No offense to any of you if you type that slow or slower, but typing just makes sense to me and feels really good. Now you know why my entries can at times get really long...
Then a few tax forms to fill out. I am hoping that by their positive attitude and the fact that they had me fill out my tax forms and give them two forms of ID that I am accepted.
It then ended with a real quick interview with Ryan's boss who asked more about being a desk receptionist and working for the campaign. I am praying to whoever listens that I will be put high on their list of people for desk recep positions. I told them about the various experiences I had in Brody. From dealing with drunk college students, to nervous parents, to ESL students, to the police, to administration, to and to and to. We then briefly joked that hopefully working for a company in downtown Chicago wouldn't render me needing to deal with too many drunk people... compared to MSU at least.
Well, as I mentioned before, my sleep schedule is all fucked up and I must take a nap if I am to see Obama tonight.
