File This Under More Incredibly Pointless Things People Buy

Shopping at Bed Bath and Beyond for a few of the folks on our list, Mortgaged and I stumbled across this:

Really? A pigs in a blanket maker?? This strange, downright silly, uni-tasking (to borrow a phrase from Alton Brown) devices crack me up...and at the same time frighten me when I think of the folks who actually buy them. I mean, come on now, a quesadilla maker? It's called a skillet, or a toaster oven for that matter, and a knife to cut the quesadilla into sections. No need for a special electronic device that cuts the tortilla into sections as it toasts it. A pie maker?? Put the pie in a pan and bake it in the oven, you dolt. An iced tea maker?! You have got to be kidding me.

I suppose some of these devices are useful if you're a college student in a dorm room with no stove. I own a sandwich make from back in those days because it was a low wattage way to make hot sandwiches, omelets, toast biscuits with jelly in the middle and even make oddly shaped bar cookies and kind-of-pancakes all without leaving my dorm room. But, still. A pigs in a blanket maker?

Tell me. Are the kitchens of incompetent people just littered with large plastic single purpose electronic devices and strange contraptions purchased from infomercials to help with "impossible tasks" like boiling pasta and cracking eggs without destroying one's entire kitchen, all piled up next to pristine stove tops then or what?

observations - interesting & otherwise, general snarkiness, that camera habit of mine
